Ryan Goodman, age 46, of Lake Village, IN passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 as a result of an accident. He was a graduate of Lake Central High School, Class of 1985. Ryan was a diesel mechanic for Schneider Nation Trucking in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Goodman, his grandmother, Elsie Lemino and Godfather Ron Muha. Ryan is survived by his children, Chaz (Fiancé Nicole Oertel) Goodman, Dean Goodman, and Allison Goodman; grandson, Blake Goodman; mother, Ruth Ann “Cricket” Goodman; brother, Ron (Alisa) Goodman; nephew & niece, Ronnie & Sydney Goodman; Godmother, Sharon Muha; aunts, Evilin Goodman, Betty (Ron) Schindler, Linda Goodman Browning; uncle, Charles (Sue) Goodman; special friends, Chris Sandburg and Katelyn Kaczmarek; and numerous cousins and friends. Ryan was a loving father and loved by many friends and family and he will be dearly missed by all.

RAYMOND VERDUZCO, age 78, of Naples, Florida and Beverly Shores, IN has fought the good fight and gone on to his next adventure. Ray leaves to cherish wonderful memories, his wife of 58 years, Connie (nee Machuca), sons, Nicholas Paul (late Peggy Edwards), Larry Richard (significant other, Melinda Sutherland), John (Denise Hermann) and daughters, Michelle Verduzco, Rae Ellen (Mario) Mancusi, Mary Catherine (Ken) Shields and Julie (Dr. Dennis) Streeter. Seventeen (all claiming to be his favorite) grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren whose misfortune it was not to have known him better. He is survived by brother, Roger (Susan) Verduzco, and sisters, Stella (Ray) Galvan and Sarah (Raul) Martinez, and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto Verduzco and Catarina Cenizais, sister, Evangeline Hernandez, and brother, Manuel Verduzco. An electrician by trade, Ray retired from LTV Steel (Youngstown Sheet & Tube) with 30 years of service, was Mr. Mom to a couple of grands for four years and retired after 12 years at Purdue University Calumet. Serving in the U. S. Army, Ray was an MP and also a boxer in Special Services during the Korean conflict. He loved playing basketball and baseball as a youngster and enjoyed golf in his later years. Friends may visit with Ray’s family on Monday, April 22nd from 2-7 pm at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 23rd, at 10 am. DIRECTLY at St. Ann of the Dunes, 433 East Golfwood Rd. Beverly Shores, IN. Services will conclude at the church with cremation following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray’s memory may be made to The Fisher House. Lucy E. Urich, age 64, of Round Lake, IL, formerly of Gary, IN, passed away on Thursday April 11, 2013. Lucy worked for the Railroad since 1969 and had the distinction of being the first female Yardmaster in the nation. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Ortega and sister, Mary Garza. Lucy is survived by her husband, Claude Urich of Round Lake,IL, daughter, Antoinette Azcona of Chesterton, step-daughter, Camille (Paul) Gosa of AK, step-son, David (Tracy) Urich of Branson, MO;grandchildren, Arturo Azcona, III, Antonio, Elena & Elizabeth Azcona, Andrew & Daniel Urich, Anthony, Stormy, Gabriel, & Robert Gosa; father, David Ortega of Merrillville, IN; sisters, Victoria Mulloy, Dora (Vince) Vargas of Gary, Stella (Rick) Garibay of Crown Point, Eve (Augustine) Hernandez of Lake Station and brother, John Ortega of Crown Point, IN. Betty Lee Duggan, age 91, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Betty sold real estate in Crown Point for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford. Betty is survived by her children, Jerry Smith, Les (Elaine) Smith, and Dallas (Pamela) Smith; grandchildren, Dallas Smith, Aaron (Kristina) Smith, Justin Smith, Barrett Almus, Tiffinie Smithe, Robert Almus, and Kori Lynn Perdue.
