Jeanne Friedman, age 81, of Munster, formerly of Dolton, IL, passed away on October 30, 2012. Jeanne received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from the National College of Education. She was an Elementary school teacher at Caroline Sibley School in Calumet City, IL for 30 years. She was a mentor at local elementary schools and a volunteer at Munster Library. Jeanne was a member of Hadassah at Temple Beth-El and TTT charitable organization. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian (nee Hoffman) and Carl Traub and brother, Max Traub. She is survived by her children, Karl (Jeanette) Friedman, of Cary, IL, Marjory (Steven) Hyman of Hebron, IN, Thomas (Debby) Friedman of Cedar Lake, IN; grandchildren, Jill (Chris) Hooper of St. Louis, MO, Julie (Randy) Friedman of Cary, IL, Nicole (Brendan) Friedman of New York City, NY, Richard (David) Friedman of Ft. Wayne, IN, Nicholas (Melissa) Friedman of Indianapolis, IN, Benjamin Friedman of Cedar Lake, IN and Travis Pitchford of Cedar Lake, IN; great-grandchildren, Camilla Hooper and Edwin Brandon-Friedman.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Temple Beth-El, 10001 Columbia Avenue, Munster, IN. There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeanne’s name to Temple Beth-El or the American Cancer Society.
