Thomas J. Jakelich, age 87 of Crown Point, passed away on November 2, 2012. He was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School and was a veteran of WWII, U. S. Navy. He formerly worked with the State of Indiana Code Enforcement Division and retired as a Field Inspector for the Lake County Commissioner. Tom was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown Point. He was a former active member of St Mark Church in Glen Park, where he helped coach football programs for several years and many children fund raising events. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Julius and Martin and his parents, Mada and George. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; 3 children – Jeffrey Jakelich of Littleton, CO, Thomas Jakelich of NY and Jill Jakelich of Crown Point; 2 grandchildren, Thomas, Jr., Dana, and sister – Martha Jakelich of Hobart.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 beginning with prayers at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point at 9:15 a.m. and proceeding to St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 Joliet St., Crown Point for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Rev.
