Bruce Anthony Mendyke, age 47 of Valparaiso and formerly of Portage, passed away November 4, 2012. Bruce was a 1984 graduate of Portage High School and was currently employed by Kloeckner Metals in Chicago, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Bruce loved Nascar, the Cubs, singing with the band and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Carl Mendyke. Bruce is survived by his loving wife Christine, children Emily, Grace and Lillian Qualkinbush; mother Patricia, brother Brian (Lisa) Mendyke and sister Michelle (Shane) Mericle. Friends may visit with Bruce’s family on Thursday, November 8, 2012, from 3 to time of service at 7 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family will be appreciated.
