Gene Hansen, age 83 of Hobart, passed away October 21, 2012. Gene was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired from EJ&E Railroad and the City of Hobart. Gene was preceded in death by his wife Elaine and nine siblings. He is survived by his wife Maurine; sons Mark (Dawn) and Michael (Barbara); granddaughters Stacy (Dave) Lashenik, Kristy, Lori, Elizabeth and Jaclyn; great-grandsons Owen and Nathan; step-children Michael and Debbie, step-grandchildren Geoffrey, Brandon, and Ashley; great-grandchildren Savanah, Maddex, and Braylinn. He is also survived by brother John and sisters Jeanette and Betty. Visitation is Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart with VFW Post 5365 Service at 7 p.m. Visitation also on Friday from 9:30 to time of Service at 10 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 207 N.
