Veronica “Ronnie” Lewis (nee Mihal) age 73, passed away on Sept. 24, 2012 after a short bout with cancer.
She was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, class of 1956.
Ronnie worked as the office manager of St. Matthias Catholic Church for 18 years. She served in liturgy by singing, reciting scripture as a lector and distributing Holy Communion as a Eucharistic minister. Ronnie and her husband Boyd Stewart (Stu) Lewis were active members of the parish since its founding. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 20th.
She is survived by her husband, Stu; brothers – Stephen (Priscilla) Mihal and Richard (Linda) Mihal; son – John S. Lewis; daughters – Elizabeth B. Lewis Miller, D.D.S. and her husband, Jack M. Miller, D.D.S., and Suzanne (John) Barber; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steven and Helen Mihal and sister, Barbara Mihal Catenazzo.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 101 W. Burrell Dr., Crown Point, Rev. Gerald Schweitzer officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
