Joseph A. “Chinky” Gonzalez, age 90, of Lowell, formerly of Gary and East Chicago, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012.

Joe was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He retired from Inland Steel after 40 years of service.  Preceded in death by son, Martin, sister, Sally Leyva, 2 brothers, Edward & Howard Munez.  Joe is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Aurora; daughter, Gloria (Pat) Kennedy of Lowell, 2 sons, Steven (Susan) Gonzalez of Orange Park, FL and Geno (Sherry) Gonzalez of Middleberg, FL, many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.

Friends may visit with Joe’s family from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.  A Memorial Service will be held immediately following at noon.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lowell Health Care Center.
