Alyssa Marie Mathas, age 19, a lifelong resident of Hobart, ascended to Heaven January 23, 2013, following her courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis. She was a member of Hobart High School Class of 2012. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Blanche Mathas, and cousin, Kenny Gillespie. Alyssa is survived by her mother, Debbie (Randy Thomas) Mathas, father, Donald Mathas; brothers, Michael (Samantha) Mathas, Daniel Mathas; sisters, Julia Mathas, Hailey Mathas; step-brothers, Randy Thomas, Jr., Brett Thomas, all of Hobart; maternal grandparents Arsin and Voskresija Kutanovski, of Crown Point, loving aunt to Evalena Mathas, and numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may visit with Alyssa’s family on Sunday, January 27, 2013, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart, IN. Funeral Service Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. John Starr officiating. Interment at Graceland Cemetery.
