Salvador Castro of Crown Point, IN , July 30, 1947 – March 4, 2013

Salvador Castro, Jr., age 65, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on March 4, 2013. Salvador was born in Dallas, TX.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Special Forces and served two tours of duty during the Viet Nam War. He worked as a security officer at the Natural History Museum in Chicago and then began his career as a  police officer with Illinois Central Railroad, which then incorporated as Metra in 1986.  He retired as a Lieutenant with Metra in 2012.  Salvador was the beloved husband of Liana (nee Halperin) Castro and loving father of three daughters, Briana Franz, Nicole Castro, and Alexandra Castro, loving brother of Mary Ester Duncan and survived by many extended family members.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador V. and Maria (nee Gutierez) Castro.

A Memorial Celebration will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory are gratefully accepted in support of his children or sent to the Veteran’s Administration.  www.burnsfuneral.com
