RAYMOND VERDUZCO, age 78, of Naples, Florida and Beverly Shores, IN has fought the good fight and gone on to his next adventure. Ray leaves to cherish wonderful memories, his wife of 58 years, Connie (nee Machuca), sons, Nicholas Paul (late Peggy Edwards), Larry Richard (significant other, Melinda Sutherland), John (Denise Hermann) and daughters, Michelle Verduzco, Rae Ellen (Mario) Mancusi, Mary Catherine (Ken) Shields and Julie (Dr. Dennis) Streeter. Seventeen (all claiming to be his favorite) grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren whose misfortune it was not to have known him better. He is survived by brother, Roger (Susan) Verduzco, and sisters, Stella (Ray) Galvan and Sarah (Raul) Martinez, and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto Verduzco and Catarina Cenizais, sister, Evangeline Hernandez, and brother, Manuel Verduzco. An electrician by trade, Ray retired from LTV Steel (Youngstown Sheet & Tube) with 30 years of service, was Mr. Mom to a couple of grands for four years and retired after 12 years at Purdue University Calumet. Serving in the U. S. Army, Ray was an MP and also a boxer in Special Services during the Korean conflict. He loved playing basketball and baseball as a youngster and enjoyed golf in his later years. Friends may visit with Ray’s family on Monday, April 22nd from 2-7 pm at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 23rd, at 10 am. DIRECTLY at St. Ann of the Dunes, 433 East Golfwood Rd. Beverly Shores, IN. Services will conclude at the church with cremation following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray’s memory may be made to The Fisher House.
