Joseph D. Shudick, Sr. age 90, a 34 year resident of Valparaiso and formerly                        

• of Merrillville, passed away April 19, 2013.  He was a member of the Northwest Indiana Beekeepers Association, Past President of Lake County Master Gardener Association, and Lake County Amateur Radio Association K9EJF.  He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII and retired from US Steel Central Engineering department.  Joseph was preceded in death by parents John and Elizabeth Shudick, brothers John, Paul and Dan and sisters Sophie and Agnes.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years Betty Shudick; children Linda Hensley, Pat (Brad) Bates, Joe (Sue) Shudick, Jr., Dawn (Mark) Hansen and Terry (Carolyn) Shudick; grandchildren Stacey (Brian) Shell, Nicole Shudick, Christopher and Katelan Bates, Elizabeth and Jaclyn Hansen, Alyssa Hensley and Emily and Ashlyn Shudick;  great- grandchild Holden Shell.  Visitation is Monday from 9 a.m. to time of service at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 509 W. Division Road, Valparaiso, IN.
