Donald Ernest Stavitzke, age 75, of Hanna, IN, was born April 27, 1937 in Whiting, IN. He passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Louise (Sokal) Stavitzke; 6 children: Janet (Richard) Powers, Joyce Andersen, Joan (Robert) Matlock, Jean (John) Ruffner, Michael Stavitzke and Cassie Stavitzke; 5 grandchildren: Gary, Sherri, Danielle, Emma and Jacob. 1 great grandchild, Courtney; 3 sisters: Donna Neal, Diane (Mathew) Lubarski and Debra Lawton and many loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Shirley Stavitzke.

He was an avid Trade Unionist and 45 year member of Millwright Local 1043. He had a superb mechanical mind, was a quality Millwright, Machinist and Carpenter. He loved to hunt and fish. During Don’s retirement he became a Master Gardner. He was a fine man who will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Friends may visit with the family at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m.
