James Edward Kaufman, age 54, of Valparaiso, IN., passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012. He was in management for Wendell Kent/Fredrick Derr Company. James attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso. He loved to fish, was a animal lover and loved his grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James J and Edna (nee Birthold) Kaufman and son, Anthony Sandlin.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. (nee Boswinkle) Kaufman, sons, Jimmy B. Kaufman and Michael Alan (Jennifer) Sandlin both of Palmetto, FL, ; sister, Mary (William) Mathias of Iron River, MI. and brothers, Charlie (Barb) Kaufman of     Lake , MI. and Thomas (Darlene) Kaufman of Calumet City, IL.; grandchildren, Connor Anthony Sandlin and Logan Hunter Sandlin, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with James’ family on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home.
