Beulah Coican of Crown Point, In 46307, February 3, 1914 – December 14, 2012

Beulah (nee Fileff ) Coican age 98, of Gabriel’s Home for the Elderly in Valparaiso, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2012. She was born in Ohrid, Macedonia to Atanas and Slavka (Sophia) Fileff  and immigrated to America with her parents in 1920. She was married to Charles (Charlie) T. Coican on May 11, 1936 and they were lifelong residents of Glen Park. As a member of the Christ Presbyterian Church in Winfield, Beulah worked many years with the Mrs. Cringles Christmas Ornaments Fundraising Project. She was a wonderful homemaker, a devoted wife and mother.

 

Beulah is survived by her three sons, Robert T. (late Carol) Coican of Crown Point, Richard A. (Marcia) Coican of Chesterton, C. Dean (Sandra) Coican of Valparaiso; seven grandchildren, Thomas Kennedy Jr., Kimberly (Hugo) Fontalvo, Kathleen Kennedy, Drs. Jennifer (David) Hovis, Scott Richardson (Lynette Rowlands), Thelma (Bud) Hefright, Matthew D. (Kelly) Coican; nine great-grandchildren, Baxter & Graham Hovis, Kelsey & Kaitlin Chandler, Hugo Fontalvo II, Serenity, Corinna, Joshua & Bud Hefright Jr.; brother, Antoine (Constance) Fileff;  brother-in-law, Nicholas (Teresa) Flucus; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Coican and daughter Geraldine A.(Thomas) Kennedy; brother Albert (Mary) Fileff; sister LaVerne (Frank) Kozub. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 11:00 am at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN., with Rev. Robert Shaw officating. Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Beulah’s family on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Presbyterian Church in Winfield, IN. or to VNA Foundation in Valparaiso.
