Esther L. Tittle, age 95, of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Gary, Griffith, and Merrillville, passed away on January 11, 2013. Esther is survived by son, Robert (Nancy) Tittle, three grandchildren, Dina (Sean) Byvoets, Michael (Christy) Tittle, and Amy (Ryan) Harrington, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert James, brother, Everett Stewart, and sister, Fern Blank. Esther was retired from the Human Resources Dept. of Gainer Bank and formerly worked at Slicks Cleaners and Tittle Brothers Packing Co. She was a very active member of the First Congregational Church in Gary, IN and later, Peace United Church of Christ in Merrillville, IN, where she served as Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and was a member of the church council. Esther was a member of P.E.O., Gary Women’s Club, and various bridge groups. In addition, she volunteered at Contact Cares for over twenty-five years. She will remembered for her passion for travel, love of family and friends, and dedication to her church.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, 1001 W. 73rd Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410. Pastor Joan Meier officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. IN. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (time of service).
