Robert L. Hicks, age 84 of Portage, passed away March 17, 2013. He retired from the US Army and St. Mary Medical Center and was a member of American Legion Post 100. Robert loved woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Iris Hicks; 5 sons Robert II (Constance) of Reidsville, NC, David (Sandra) of Gary, IN, Jon (Barbara) of San Antonio, TX, Scott (Juanita) of Hobart, IN and Gary (Melissa) of Burns Harbor, IN; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may visit with Robert’s family on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, Hobart at 701 E. 7th St., Hobart. Military Honors and Memorial Service at 11 a.m. by American Legion Post 100. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
