Robert “Bob” J. Bucko, Sr., age 82 of Crown Point, passed away on 3-17-2013. He attended St. Mark’s grade school, graduated from St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield, WI and attended Purdue University. While working for his father (Bucko Construction Company) he was drafted into the U. S. Army where he served as 2nd Lieutenant in the Korean War. After the service he returned to Bucko Construction Company. When his father passed away in 1959, he became President and served in that capacity until 1987 when he sold his interest in Bucko Construction Company. He was also General Manager of family-owned Pennant Gas & Fuel, Inc., which was sold in 1969. Bob was a member of V.F.W. Post #1563, American Legion Post #20, National Asphalt and Paving Association, and Indiana Blacktop Association. He was a member of Glen Park Optimist Club and was one of the original Hunky Hollow Athletic Club members. He started the Bob Bucko Golf Outing, which lasted 33 years. Bob enjoyed golf, boating and recreational vehicles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ann Bucko; brothers – John “Jack” and Charles, Jr. He is survived by 2 sisters – Annabelle Ehrsam Wilson of Highland and Laura Mallonee of Ogden Dunes; son – Robert J. Bucko, Jr. “Rusty” and daughter – Dona Jo Bucko; 1 granddaughter – Alexandra Bucko; sisters-in-law – Judy Bucko of Valparaiso and Sally Bucko of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. Entombment of Bob’s cremated remains will be at St. John’s Military Academy Columbarium in Delafield, WI. There will be a private service. Donations may be made to the charity of choice. Burns Funeral Home, Crown Point, is in charge of arrangements.
