Luanna “Anna”Carter, age 45, of Gary, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013

 

She was an employee of Lake County Treasurer Office, formerly employed at Lake County Sheriff’s Department and Calumet Township Trustee’s Office. Luanna was a current member of F.O.P. Anton Lodge #125 and former volunteer “Candy Striper” at Methodist Hospital.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, Murry Carter, Sr.; grandmother, Minnie Carter, grandfather, J.C. Patterson and sister, CleEster Jackson.

 

Luanna is survived by her mother, Geraldine Davis, grandmother, Drucella Patterson, 2 daughters, Ashley and Brittany, special grandson, Kameron White and grandson, C.L, Johnson, 3 granddaughters, Kilan, Kiara and Brianna; 4 sisters, Ethel Patterson, Minnie Carter, Janie (Alphonso) Martin, LaShana (Isaac) Howard, 3 brothers, Murry Carter, Jr., Eugene Carter, Murry Gross; special friend, John Brezik and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Thomas Strimbu, age 87, of Highland, IN, formerly of Gary, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. He was a graduate of Froebel High School and Indiana University.

Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was a former accountant for Tri City Electric for 20 years and was an employee of Faroc Company for 15 years.  He was a member of the Men’s Pool League at Woodmar United Methodist Church and enjoyed stamp collecting and gem and mineral collecting.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Sylvia Strimbu, and his brother George Strimbu.  He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 58 years, Violet; 2 sons, Robert (Rosemary) Strimbu of Crown Point and John (Helen) Strimbu of New Lenox, IL.; 3 grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, & Alexandra; and sister, Mary Breaz of Schererville, numerous nieces and nephews.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Woodmar United Methodist Church.  The family extends sincere appreciation and thanks to Companion Care of Munster for the wonderful care Thomas received at home. Leaman D. Moore of Lake Station, Indiana, August 8, 1933 – February 24, 2013

Leaman D. Moore, 79, of Lake Station, passed away February 24, 2013. He served as a Corporal with the U.S.M.C. and was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel.

 

Preceded in death by his brother, Kirby Moore; sister, Jean Hoskins. Lee is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mamie Moore; daughter Becky (Dan) Terry of TN, son Danny (Karen) Moore of Gary and daughter, Sandra Moore (Tammy Evans) of Lake Station; grandchildren – Ricky and Jessie Moore; brother Henry Moore of Bloomfield, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Friends may visit with Lee’s family on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart.
