Carol Jean Napier of Portage, IN, September 16, 1933 – September 22, 2012

Carol J. Napier (nee Otterman) age 79, of Portage, In. passed away on September 22, 2012.  She was a graduate of Hammond Tech and worked as a Hand Assembler and Security Guard at the Anderson Co. for 10 years.

 

Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Napier.   She was preceded in death by sons – John and Charles and son-in-law – Edward Dranchak.  She is survived by her children: Ricky (Rita) Napier of Valparaiso, Anna Marie Napier of Portage and Tammy (Joe) Hawes of Chesterton; daughter-in-law Lynda Napier of Portage; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers – Richard (Irene) Otterman of Hebron and Michael Otterman of San Diego.

 

Friends may visit with Carol’s family on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart.  Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, Rev. Richard Brown officiating.  Entombment in Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.

Michael R. Krull of Hobart, IN, December 21, 1949 – September 18, 2012

Michael R. Krull, age 62 and a lifelong resident of Hobart, passed away September 18, 2012.  Mike was a 1969 graduate of HobartHigh Schooland co-owner of Krull & Sons Surveying. He attended NorthwoodUniversityand PurdueCalumetCollege, served in the National Guard and was a member of Hobart Phi Delts.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Virginia Krull and stepmother, Dorothy Krull.  He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Dawn (nee Briney) Krull of Hobart; daughter, Gina (Narin) Clouse of Greenwood, MO and son, Greg Krull (fiancée Meghan Griffin)  of Wheatfield; granddaughter, Sydnee Krull; brothers, Jim (Karen) Krull of Smithville, MO and Steve (Nancy) Krull of Hobart; parents-in-law Jim and Loraine Briney of Hobart; brothers-in-law, Tim Briney of LaSalle, MI and Scott (Krista) Briney of Roselle, IL; many nieces and nephews. Grace Ann Vensel of Crown Point, Indiana, November 9, 1924 – September 18, 2012

Grace Ann Vensel, age 87, of Portage, passed away at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 18, 2012.  Grace graduated from Hobart High School and was and will always be a Brickie Cheerleader.  She was employed by Goldblatt’s in Gary for many years.  One of Grace’s greatest pleasures in life was watching I U basketball and the Chicago Cubs and playing Pinocle with her brothers & sisters.  Grace loved to be with family.  She was preceded in death by husband, Jack Vensel, her parents, Ben & Lillian Dommer, granddaughter, Alyssa Vensel, daughter-in-law, Joan Vensel, sister, Ruth Dwyer, brother, Herbert Dommer .  She is survived by her children, Doug Vensel of Lowell; Larry (Jeanie) Vensel of Escalante, Utah, Nancy (Dennis) Hamilton of Crown Point, grandchildren, Sandy (Dan) Pimentel of Crown Point, Jenny (Mark) Shayotovich of Indianapolis, Cheri (Eric) Bennett of Crown Point, Richard (Molly) Hamilton of Indianapolis and Danny Vensel of Lowell; 6 great-grandsons, Camron & Nick Pimentel of Crown Point, Drew & Luke Shayotovich of Indianapolis, and Jake & Michael Bennett of Crown Point; brother, Raymond (Jeanine) Dommer of Hobart; sisters, Shirley Dommer of Hobart and Esther (late Ronnie) Pendergrast of Hobart and many loving nieces and nephews.

William R. Sellers (Selangowski), age 60, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday September 16, 2012.  Bill was the Executive Director for Mental Health America of Lake County.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.  Bill was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.  Through his years, Bill touched many lives, he had a genuine love for life, and was always there with a helping hand and an inspiring word.  He was truly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Delphine (nee Kowaleski) Szelangowski and father-in-law, Charles LaRoche.  He is survived by his loving wife, Alison Sellers; daughter, Colleen (Tadas) Bite; son, Christopher (Angela) Sellers; granddaughter, Morgan Sellers; brother, Robert Selangowski; sister-in-law, Judy Selangowski; and nieces, Jennifer (Ed) Young; great-nieces, Emma & Leah; and Mother-in-law, Ethel LaRoche.
