Barbara Rose Brkovich, (nee Kalmar) age 79, of Merrillville, a lifelong area resident, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013.  Barbara was a graduate of Gary Lew Wallace High School. She was employed by USX as a safety clerk for 28 years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew in 2007,  her brother Gil Kalmar and her son-in-law, Robert Conder. She is survived by her son Dr. John (Victoria) Laco of Lakeville, MN; daughter Pam (nee Laco) Conder of Crown Point; 3 grandchildren: Ryan, Nicolas and Megan Rose Laco; brother, Michael (Carol) Kalmer of Portage and sisters Julie Laskody of Merrillville and Marie Dowdy of Oklahoma: sister-in-law, Dorothy Ziletsky and sister-in-law Eloise Kalmar of Gary.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. Funeral services Wednesday, April 3, 2013  at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Entombment at Calumet Park Mausoleum, Merrillville.
