Hillis Edward Wadell, Sr, age 77 ofHobart,IN, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.  He was a retired employee of U. S. Steel Gary Tube Works.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Station.  Hillis was preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline Diane Giertych Waddell, his mother, Nettie Floyd Waddell, and father, Hillis Harrison Waddell.  Hillis is survived by his wife, Maggie Marie Waddell; his children, Ed (Diane) Waddell, Jr., Barb (Keith) Hooks, Jennifer Langdon, and Henry (Suzanne) Waddell; step-children, Steve Lewis and Gloria (Butch) Burton; grandchildren, Devon (John) Kovacik, Shaun (Michelle) Henry, Ed Waddell, III, Jonathan (Megan) Waddell, Jacqueline (Josh) Ortiz, Mary (Nick) Hopkins, Jessica Kurek, Destiny Hatley, Ashley (Jacob) Shingledecker, Adam Langdon, Alexia Stechele and Alicia Waddell; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Cheylyn, Liam, Madison, Otto and Aubrey; sister, Patsy Waddell Markham; nephew, William (Annette) Huddleston and niece, Rachel Huddletson.

Friends may visit with Hillis’ family on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lake Station, 1309 Central Ave., Lake Station, IN.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lake Station.  Pastor David A. Nykamp and Pastor William A. Meyer officiating.  Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, IN.  Burns Funeral Home, Hobart in charge of arrangements.
