Ronald Gene German of Koontz Lake, IN formerly Hobart, IN, November 21, 1948 – March 13, 2013
Ronald “Ron” German of Koontz Lake and formerly of Hobart, passed away March 13, 2013. He was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School Class of 1966 and worked as a bailiff for Lake County. Ron was an avid White Sox fan. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Eleanore and brother Teddy. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Diane; children Dawn, Ron (Megan) German; grandson Vance; siblings Collene (Mark) Meditz, and Stephen German; special nieces Shannon (Sean) Gibson, Melissa (Chris) Freeman, Stephanie and Marisa German and many great nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with Ron’s family on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart. Funeral Service Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery.

Geraldine Ellyn Roman of Munster, Indiana, October 22, 1938 – March 13, 2013

Geraldine Ellyn Roman, age 74, of Munster, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. She was a Respiratory Therapist with Advocate Healthcare. Geraldine was a member of Temple Israel in Gary. She was Treasurer of Illinois Society for Respiratory Care-PAC and was named First Annual Respiratory Care Practitioner of the Year 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Roman in Dec. 05, her son Marc Roman, and her parents, Samuel & Gertrude Levitan. She is survived by 2 sons, Dean (Wendy) Roman of Munster and Michael (Daniela) Roman of Chicago, IL; 2 daughters, Lori (Daniel) Franklin of Fox Lake, IL and Michele (Phillip) Abramson of Chicago; daughter-in-law, Tammie Roman of Highland; and brother, Harvey (Susan) Levitan of Muskegan, MI; and 5 grandchildren, Steven Franklin, Joshua Roman, Aimee Roman, Zachary Roman and Mitchell Abramson.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Rabbi Stanley Halpern officiating. Interment at Temple Israel Cemetery in Portage, IN. www.burnsfuneral.com

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Cox of Hobart, IN, November 20, 1933 – March 13, 2013
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Cox of Lake Station, IN passed away at age 79 on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. He retired from Lever Brothers after 32 years of service. He was born in Coy, AR and raised in Augusta, AR. Our father began playing the guitar at the age of 15 and enjoyed gospel and country music. In addition, he began ministering in his young adult years in Patterson, AR and continued in Indiana for local Christian churches. Many knew him for his large family, guitar and harmonica playing and singing. He enjoyed playing at the lakefront and at the band shelter in Hobart, IN.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Connie Matilda (Lazaro) Cox, father Charles, mother Minnie, brothers Charles, Jr. and Floyd Dewey, and sister Minnie; granddaughters Tahisha and Bianca Hernandez and Amelia Martinez.
Franklin is survived by 7 children Hope Cox, Christina (James) Carter, Victor (Kimberly) Cox, Veronica (Don) Dolloff, Monica (Luis) Cox-Martinez, Johnny (Teresa) Cox, and Constance Cox; siblings Marie Hart, Dewey (Diane) Cox, Mary Ellen (Leonard) Watwood and Ellame (Robert) Goodwin; 19 surviving grandchildren Aaron and Andrew Carter, Nathaniel Cox and Zachary Chnupa-Cox, Elias, Paublito, Angel, Louis and Elisha Martinez, Yolonda Howard, Nadia Dolloff and Ottis Cox, Victor, Jonathon and Andrea Cox, Amanda and Brittany Cox, Holly Hernandez and Dominic Pedroza; and 31 great-grandchildren and 3 future great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to our sister Christina and her husband James and grandsons Aaron and Andrew for giving their loving time and devotion to our father.
