Hertha N Chubbs of Crown Point, IN, May 28, 1924 – September 24, 2012

Hertha N. Chubbs (nee Hirsch), age 88, of Crown Point, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012.  Hertha was born in Gary and baptized & confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church at 8th & Massachusetts in Gary.  She married her husband, Harold at Trinity Lutheran in Gary and had three children, Kimberlee Sue Quade, Timothy J. Chubbs, and James H. Chubbs; grandchildren, Erica (Nicholas) Roa & Sigrid Quade; and great-grandchild, Augustin, all who survive her. She is also survived by 1 sister, Irma Nulton and brother, Herb (Sue) Hirsch.  Hertha was preceded in death by her sister, Emma Bachmann and brother, James Hirsch. She was a Sunday school teacher in Cedar Lake, Gary & Crown Point at local Lutheran Schools and volunteered at S. Anthony Hospital delivering flowers for 35 years.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crown Point and the Trinity League, Ladies Aid.  She and Harold loved to travel and visited Germany, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, the Figi Islands, Alaska, Israel, Mexico City and the northern part of the U.S.A.

Friends may visit with Hertha’s family on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 250 S. Indiana Avenue, Crown Point, IN.  Rev. David Easterday & Rev. Veronica “Ronnie” Lewis of Crown Point, Indiana, May 26, 1939 – September 24, 2012

 

Veronica “Ronnie” Lewis (nee Mihal) age 73, passed away on Sept. 24, 2012 after a short bout with cancer.

She was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, class of 1956.

Ronnie worked as the office manager of St. Matthias Catholic Church for 18 years. She served in liturgy by singing, reciting scripture as a lector and distributing Holy Communion as a Eucharistic minister. Ronnie and her husband Boyd Stewart (Stu) Lewis were active members of the parish since its founding.  They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 20th.

She is survived by her husband, Stu; brothers – Stephen (Priscilla) Mihal and Richard (Linda) Mihal; son – John S. Lewis; daughters – Elizabeth B. Lewis Miller, D.D.S. and her husband, Jack M. Miller, D.D.S., and Suzanne (John) Barber; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Steven and Helen Mihal and sister, Barbara Mihal Catenazzo. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 101 W. Burrell Dr., Crown Point, Rev. Gerald Schweitzer officiating.  Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 1:30 p.m.  Interment in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to St. Matthias Church or to a favorite charity.  Burns Funeral Home, Crown Point, handling arrangements. www.burnsfuneral.com

Carol Jean Napier of Hobart, IN, September 16, 1933 – September 22, 2012

 

Carol J. Napier (nee Otterman) age 79, of Portage, In. passed away on September 22, 2012.  She was a graduate of Hammond Tech and worked as a Hand Assembler and Security Guard at the Anderson Co. for 10 years.

 

 

 

Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Napier.   She was preceded in death by sons – John and Charles and son-in-law – Edward Dranchak.  She is survived by her children: Ricky (Rita) Napier of Valparaiso, Anna Marie Napier of Portage and Tammy (Joe) Hawes of Chesterton; daughter-in-law Lynda Napier of Portage; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers – Richard (Irene) Otterman of Hebron and Michael Otterman of San Diego.

 

 

 

Friends may visit with Carol’s family on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart.  Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, Rev. Richard Brown officiating.  Entombment in Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.

Louis “Louie” Postelmans of Merrillville, Indiana, January 21, 1949 – September 21, 2012

Postelmans, Louis “Louie” Age 63 of Merrillville passed away Friday, September 21, 2012. He was a graduate of TF South High School, class of 1967 and a retired employee of Ford Motor Company, Local 588, with 39 years of service. Louie is survived by his wife, Christine; children, Frank (Yvonne) Postelmans, Casey Postelmans, Duane (Emily) Postelmans, Andrea Postelmans, and Ashley (Joe Valiski) Berger; 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many other family members and dear friends. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 25th at 11 AM at Burns Funeral Home Chapel, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Pastor Dwight Gardner officiating. Cremation will follow services.
