Hertha N. Chubbs (nee Hirsch), age 88, of Crown Point, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012. Hertha was born in Gary and baptized & confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church at 8th & Massachusetts in Gary. She married her husband, Harold at Trinity Lutheran in Gary and had three children, Kimberlee Sue Quade, Timothy J. Chubbs, and James H. Chubbs; grandchildren, Erica (Nicholas) Roa & Sigrid Quade; and great-grandchild, Augustin, all who survive her. She is also survived by 1 sister, Irma Nulton and brother, Herb (Sue) Hirsch. Hertha was preceded in death by her sister, Emma Bachmann and brother, James Hirsch. She was a Sunday school teacher in Cedar Lake, Gary & Crown Point at local Lutheran Schools and volunteered at S. Anthony Hospital delivering flowers for 35 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crown Point and the Trinity League, Ladies Aid. She and Harold loved to travel and visited Germany, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, the Figi Islands, Alaska, Israel, Mexico City and the northern part of the U.S.A.
Friends may visit with Hertha’s family on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 250 S. Indiana Avenue, Crown Point, IN. Rev. David Easterday & Rev. David Kipp officiating. William N. Roytan, age 80, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Glen Park, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012. Bill attended Kansas State, Arkansas State, and Georgia State. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army-Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 20 in Crown Point. He coached CYO Football in the 70’s and taught Red Cross Swimming at Fisher Pool. Bill was a member of Club Deb and the Eastside Boosters. He was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Merrillville. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in 1980, his son, John Roytan in 2001, his parents, Nicholas C. & Lillian B. Roytan and brother, Nicholas B. Roytan. He is survived by his children, William (Pam) Roytan of Carmel, IN, Barbara (Robby) Klaich of Hammond, Michael Roytan and Mark (Sherry) Roytan both of Texas; 7 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Dennis & Barbara Durkin, Alex & Karen Matlove, and Chuck & Norma Bocca all of Crown Point, and Rex and Carol Atchison and their children, Angela, Pam, and Scotty of Schererville. Michael R. Krull, age 62 and a lifelong resident of Hobart, passed away September 18, 2012. Mike was a 1969 graduate of HobartHigh Schooland co-owner of Krull & Sons Surveying. He attended NorthwoodUniversityand PurdueCalumetCollege, served in the National Guard and was a member of Hobart Phi Delts. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Virginia Krull and stepmother, Dorothy Krull. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Dawn (nee Briney) Krull of Hobart; daughter, Gina (Narin) Clouse of Greenwood, MO and son, Greg Krull (fiancée Meghan Griffin) of Wheatfield; granddaughter, Sydnee Krull; brothers, Jim (Karen) Krull of Smithville, MO and Steve (Nancy) Krull of Hobart; parents-in-law Jim and Loraine Briney of Hobart; brothers-in-law, Tim Briney of LaSalle, MI and Scott (Krista) Briney of Roselle, IL; many nieces and nephews.
