Marianne G. “Kris” Cefali (nee Krysinski) age 75, of Hobart, IN, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, December 2, 2012. Kris was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, Class of 1955. She was a former model in Chicago and Administrative Assistant to Charlie O. Finley, the previous owner of the Oakland Athletics Baseball Team. She was a homemaker during her children’s formative years and then worked and retired from JCPenney Fine Jewelry Department. Marianne is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dominic A. Cefali and her parents, Stephen and Estelle (nee Klazura) Krysinski. She is survived by sons, Dr. Dominic C. Cefali of Newburgh, IN, F. Cameron (Robyn) Cefali of Fishers, IN and daughter, Cristina (Roe) Riggio of Libertyville, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas, Dominic John (DJ), Natalie, Troy, and Dante; brother, Norbert (Ruth) Krysinski of Terre Haute, IN; sister, Juanita (Ranko) Erceg of FL; brother, Franklin (Emilie) Krysinski of Valparaiso, IN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Charlie Washington, age 66 of Portage and formerly Utica, MS, passed away peacefully November 30, 2012. He loved fishing and enjoyed playing the Lotto. He was preceded in death by brothers George Washington and Albert Washington. Charlie is survived by his wife Mae Washington; daughter Sherry Cervantes; sister Lillie Mae Wood; brothers G. L. Washington, Fred Washington, Jr. and Ralph Washington; half brother X. L. Paige and many loving nieces and nephews.

Lillian B. Muldoon, 1921 – 2012. Lillian Bernice Moore Muldoon of Jacksonville, IL, and formerly of Portage, IN, died Friday morning, November 30, 2012, at home in Jacksonville, IL.

She was born on September 22, 1921, inDanville,IL, the daughter of Frank Warren and Lillie Edith Parkes Moore. She married James P. Muldoon on January 7, 1939, and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1973. Lillian attendedEmersonHigh SchoolinGary,IN.She worked most of her life in various occupations. She is a member of theNorthwestSeventh-DayAdventistChurchinCrown Point,IN.She was very devoted to church work. She enjoyed antiquing, traveling and spending time with her family and loved ones. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Patti Roman (husband Nick), Mary Petruzelli-Gal (husband Alex), and one son James E. Muldoon (wife Linda); eight grandchilddren: Deanna Petruzelli, Christine Roth (husband Win), Mark Petruzelli (wife Beverly), Ronald Rushing, Shelley Applegate (husband Tom), Robert Bacon, William J. Muldoon (wife Trish)and Edward Muldoon (wife Emily); 13 great-grandchildren: Jennifer Jeffries, Brandon Jeffries, Andrew Roth, Kellen Roth, Ari Petruzelli, Danica Petruzelli, Darianna Petruzelli, Devon Rushing, Derrick Rushing, Rena Rushing, Alex Applegate, Zackery Applegate and Lily Applegate. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Kenneth Moore, Clarence Moore and Robert Moore; one sister, Louise Moore Chaney; one son, William L. Muldoon (surviving wife Lila) and one grandson, Brian Bacon.

Dolphe (Frushour) Bublitz, age 90, of Hobart and Naples FL, passed into the Lord’s hands November 18, 2012.

She was predeceased by husband Robert H. Bublitz, son Robert W. Bublitz, parents Stuart and Virginia (Thompson) Frushour; sister Betty McGuire, and brothers Stuart and Wayne Frushour. Dolphe is survived by daughters Kathy (Tom) Grabiek, Rumney, NH, Carol (Randall) Berning, Naples FL; son Daniel (Sue) Bublitz, Hobart; grandson Matthew Berning, Naples FL and many nieces and nephews.

Dolphe grew up in Plymouth IN. During WWII she and sister Betty worked for Bendix (South Bend) in airplane turret quality control. After WWII both attended IU-Bloomington where Dolphe met Bob. They married in 1947 and raised 4 children in Miller before moving to Hobart in 1973. Dolphe’s been enjoying Naples since January 2012.

A longtime member of Augustana Lutheran Church, she was active in many activities and missions of the church. Dolphe was also a former longtime member and Past-President of Sandears Extension Homemakers, Delta Theta Tau sorority, Hobart Garden Club (she spearheaded the Hobart Triangle Welcome project at SR51/130 and Cleveland Ave),and a Hobart Community Improvement Committee member. Dolphe and Bob were longtime Meals-on-Wheels volunteers and avid bridge players with Merrillville and Portage Senior Bridge. Dolphe loved her many friends, extended family and church life, and enjoyed crafts, gardening, flower arranging, reading, traveling, ballroom dancing and making a wonderful home and memories for her family. She was a happy, pleasant lady and will be dearly missed.

Kevin B. Copper, age 61, of Lansing, IL, went to his eternal rest on Monday, July 9, 2012. Kevin was a graduate of Mendota Illinois High School and the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana Campus.� He was an agent for Farmer’s Insurance and previously he was an operation and marketing executive in the food industry.� Kevin was an avid golfer, fisherman, gardener and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.� He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel C. John R. Weede, age 63 of Highland, IN, formerly of Dolton, IL, passed away suddenly on November 21, 2012. He was the loving husband of Madeline “Midge” (nee Novak) Weede; supportive father to sons, Robert, Steven, and Andrew; cherished brother of Florence Cody, Laura (John) Guetshow, and Harry Weede; dear brother-in-law to Martin (Ruth) Novak; fond uncle to nieces and nephews, Crystal Cody, Laci Myers, Lisa (Mike) Kelly, David (Lisa) Guetshow, John and Jason Weede, Joe (Laurie) Novak, Amanda (Curt) Gill, fun loving great uncle to Paige, Peyton, Cody, Mason, Kayla, Aneyssa, Chloe and Gunner, his special little “pooper” who brought immense joy into his life; special cousin to Carolyn Maier; devoted son and son-in-law to the late Robert and Betty Weede and Joseph Novak and Veronica Novak, who survives; great friend to Robert Reynolds and the late BJ Reynolds; preceded recently in death by cousin Wally Maluchnik. John graduated from Thornridge High School in Dolton, IL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Ford Motor Company and Brose Chicago. John enjoyed being with his family almost as much as watching his beloved Chicago White Sox win the World Series. If a neighbor needed a helping hand, he was always there for them. John’s unexpected passing has created a huge void and he will be fondly remembered through his life story as a son, brother, husband, father, cousin, uncle, and friend…gone too soon. Sadly, life is not forever, but thankfully memories are.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Rev. Mark Wilkins officiating. Doretta I. (nee Mehalic) Schmelter, age 84 of Hobart, passed away November 21, 2012.

She was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1946 and was a former employee of Chart Pool USA in Portage. Doretta was a devoted Christian, mother and artist. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Paul R. Schmelter on December 29, 1988, her son Dean Schmelter and sister Beverly Crabtree. She is survived by children Tom (Chris) Schmelter of Charlotte, NC, William (Dana) Schmelter of Winfield, Marcia (Eric) Stubbeman of Indianapolis, and Paul (Shelly) Schmelter of Hobart; grandchildren Brendan Schmelter, Brianne (Josh) Davis, Shanna (Caleb) Morrett, Alanna Schmelter, Kyle Stubbeman, Zach Schmelter, Amanda Schmelter, and Kate Schmelter; brother Leon Mehalic; sister Connie (Paul) Towner of Augusta, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
