Margaret R. Meseberg of Crown Point, Indiana, December 30, 1913 – August 20, 2012

Margaret R. Meseberg, age 98, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012.  Margaret was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Merrillville.  She was an avid pinochle player.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Laurence Meseberg and 5 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Margaret is survived by 3 loving children, Patricia (Carrol) Ralph of Crown Point, IN, Judith (Jack) Kuna of Plainfield, IL and Lawrence Meseberg of Crown Point, IN; 7 grandchildren, Greg (Colleen) Ralph, Ron (Kristen) Ralph, Mike (Vickie) Ralph, and Melissa (Tim) Saco and Eric (Mary) Kuna, Jacki (Aaron) Ross, and Jeffrey (Amy) Kuna; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Ruby & Margaret Meseberg and numerous other relatives in Wisconsin.

Friends may visit with Margaret’s family on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 8303 Taft St., Merrillville, IN.  Rev. Peter Muha officiating.  Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.  Margaret will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (time of service).www.burnsfuneral.com

Burma Metros-Landers of Merrillville, Indiana, February 2, 1920 – August 19, 2012

Burma Metros-Landers (nee Muffett) age 92, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Canalou, MO., passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Glen Metros and Raymond Landers; daughter, Zelma Comer; brothers, Gaylord and Bennie Muffett; sisters, Glenna Powers, Louise Mose, and Naomi Kelly and step-son, Richard Landers.  Burma is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Patricia) Metros of Lowell, Ricky (Brenda) Metros of Cedar Lake and Michael (Kim) Metros of Valparaiso; step-son Terry Landers and step-daughters, Diane Hogan and Sue (Bill) Guess; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gus (Lorraine) Metros and sisters-in-law, Marge Metros and Evelyn Muffett.

Friends may visit with Burma’s family on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home.  Rev. Mark Promnitz officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, in Hammond, IN.

Steven W. Seckendorf of Calumet Township, Indiana, November 27, 1952 – August 17, 2012

Steven W. Seckendorf, age 59, of Calumet Township, IN, passed away suddenly August 17, 2012.

 

He is survived by his wife Joann Seckendorf, and daughter Kimberly Sut. He was the devoted son of Margaret (nee Cummings) Seckendorf and the late Fred; beloved brother of Carol (Jack) Fisher, Fred G. (Linda) Seckendorf  and Joyce (John)  Falstrom. He was the cherished uncle of 6 and proud great-uncle of 6.

 

Steve was a loving, funny, quick-witted and hard working husband, father, brother and a great friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed life, animals, farming, motorcycles, history, family, friends, and the freedom of the ride. He was an A.B.A.T.E. member, as well as a member of many other non-profit organizations across the world. He was a 20- year plus employee of A.T.& T.

 

Steven’s smile and friendly jokes will be missed. God bless him and we know he will always be with us.

 

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Rev. Mark Wilkins officiating.
