Kathleen S. Abel, age 85, of Valparaiso, IN, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 6, 2012.  She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was greatly loved by her family and friends.  She was born on February 10, 1927 to the late Charles and Sarah (nee Ragains) Seneff in Cuzco, IN.  Kathleen was married on May 1, 1948 in Gary, IN to Richard G. Abel. Kathleen was a collector of many things, coins, stamps, recipes, books..but most importantly, she collected friends.  She was a virtuous woman who shared her faith, love, and kindness to all she met. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 5 sisters.  She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard; her three daughters, Barbara (Jim) Pantos of Raleigh, NC, Kathy Abel of Crown Point, IN, Peggy (Doug) Pollitt of Valparaiso, IN; four sons, Richard (Kathy) of Valparaiso, IN, Jeffrey (Mary) of Ogden, UT, Charles (Laurie) of Noblesville, IN and Christopher (Kate) of Brownsburg, IN; 14 grandchildren, Jeremy (Beth) Abel of Denver, CO, Michael Abel of Denver, CO, Charlie Abel of San Francisco, CA, Christen Pantos of Indianapolis, IN, Patrick Abel of Salt Lake City, UT, Sean Abel of Ogden, UT, Alex Pantos of Bloomington, IN, Elizabeth Abel of Muncie, IN, Emma & Aidan Pollitt of Valparaiso, IN, Sara, Jenny, Connor, & Samantha Abel of Brownsburg, IN.

Friends may visit with Kathleen’s family on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.  Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home.  Rev. Ron Peterson officiating.  Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN
