Rick A. Kalemba, age 53, of Cedar Lake, IN, surrounded by his family went to be with his Lord on January 15, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. Rick was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy, and a member of American Legion Cedar Lake Post 261. He was a Plant Operator at the Bio Plant at Waste Management of Calumet City, IL with 32 years of service until his illness forced his retirement. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports especially the Chicago Bears, the Cubs, and NASCAR. Family was most important to Rick as were his trips to Florida. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph & Bernice Kalemba; Frank & Ann Perz; his father-in-law, Edward Szymoniak and brother-in-law, Eugene Szymoniak, and his best bud, Copper. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Theresa; his beloved daughters, Jennifer Kalemba of Belvidere, IL and Ashley Kalemba at home; his grandson, Hunter Allen Wittlock; parents, Leo & Josephine Ann Kalemba; brother, Leo Kalemba, Jr, of Delray Beach, FL; sister, Debra (Brent) Graff and niece, Heather Graff of Boynton Beach, FL; mother-in-law, Jeaneanne Szymoniak, sister-in-law, Gale (Robert) Paterson; brother-in-law, Edward Szymoniak; his faithful canine friend, Precious; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. It was Rick’s wishes that funeral services be private and there will be no visitation.
