Patricia Ann Lowe, age 61, of Portage, IN, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012. Patty was a former school bus driver for Geminus Headstart School System in Portage. She was preceded in death by her parents, Birchel and Virginia Ruth Stamper. She is survived by one daughter, Shawn Marie Denham of Otsego, MI; brothers, Douglas (Wanda) Stamper of Lowell, IN and David (Cindy) Stamper of Griffith, IN, and sister, Linda (Gene) Mudra of Lansing, IL and and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday November 4, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 5:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN Contributions may be made to Patricia’s daughter.

Helen Kubiak, age 79, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of South Chicago, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry Kubiak. Helen is survived by 2 daughters,

Nadine (Tom) Mahan of Crown Point and Doreen (John Czajkowski) Kubiak of Hammond; 3 grandchildren, Becky Mahan, Sabrina (Nick) Dobrzeniecki both of Crown Point, and Tommy Mahan, Jr. of Portage; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dolores Lambeth and Bonnie (Carl) Butler both of Chicago; brother, Chester (Diane) Kubiak of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Royce H. Coulson, Sr., age 88 of Hobart and formerly of Highland, passed away October 15, 2012. He served in the US Army Air Force during World War II and was a Shriner and member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge #569. He was a pharmacist for over 50 years and was employed by Methodist Hospital and Eli Lilly. He was also a former Director of Public Works for the town of Highland. Royce was preceded in death by his wife Janice and brother Lores. He is survived by his loving wife Nitsa; sons Royce, Jr. and David (Julie); step-daughter Angela (Chris Kirincic) Phillips; granddaughter Lilah and several nieces and nephews. Susan Snyder Lesnick, age 73, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. She was born in Gary, IN, the daughter of Jack T. Snyder and Margaret Considine Snyder. Susan was a graduate of Holy Angels Catholic Grade School Class of 1954 and Horace Mann High School Class of 1958. Her classmates selected her as Queen of her freshman class and as Homecoming Queen at Horace Mann as a senior. Her many friendships from Horace Mann have remained strong over the years. She attended Butler University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Susan was a cheerleading sponsor and volleyball coach at St. Mary’s in Crown Point. She was an ardent, life-long Chicago Cubs fan. Despite some serious health challenges during the past 15 years, Susan retained an incredibly positive attitude and made many friends at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Crown Point where she resided since 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Timothy Snyder.

Susan is survived by three children, Kristin (late Joe) Maglish of Crown Point, Larry (Mary Lynn) Lesnick of Indianapolis, and Megann Lesnick of Chicago, IL; three grandsons, Connor, Caden, and Turner Lesnick; brother, Jack R. (Jennifer) Snyder of Indianapolis, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Frank N. Koprcina, age 82, ofHobart, formerly of Glen Park passed away October 6, 2012.

Frank was a Korean War Veteran, a retired teamster and attendedRealLifeCommunityChurch,Portage. He was an avid Notre Dame and Bears fan; and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marvaleen; sisters: Anne Zabrdac and Rosemary Gaines.

He is survived by his sons: Frank (Yvonne) and John (Jeannean) Koprcina; grandchildren: Gabrielle and Nicklas Koprcina and Rebecca (Jeramy) Englemann; many nieces and nephews.

Ann T. Crandall of Lake Station, IN, June 8, 1923 – September 29, 2012

Ann Theresa (nee Repiscak) Crandall, 89, a longtime resident of Lake Station passed away on September 29, 2012, in the arms of her family, having spent the day before her death surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry DeVere Crandall, a WWII Veteran. The two met at the Trina Ballroom in Chicago at a Lawrence Welk performance. Survived by son, DeVere of Mobile, Ala; son, Wayne (Jackie) of Portage; daughter, Sharon (John)Casey of Chicago; grandchildren – Jeremy and Brandon Crandall and Brenna,Johnny and Lauren Casey. Ann was born and raised on the South side of Chicago and spent many years rooting for her hometown teams with her dog, Sandy, at her side. Her favorite pastimes included taking care of her five grandchildren, tending to her yard with rows of bushes, and watching classic old syndicated shows like “Lawrence Welk”. Ann was a longtime parishioner of Assumption Church. During her employment she worked in several customer service positions at a local school, major department store and a large restaurant chain. Friends may visit with Ann’s family at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart on Friday, October 5th, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 from Burns Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. and proceeding to Assumption Catholic Church, 3530 Illinois St, New Chicago, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Rev. On October 9th we will be implementing updates to the obituary console. These updates are intended to provide additional functionality and improved appearance of the final obituary. Some of the added functionality changes include:

1) integration with global search engines for each deceased individual thus allowing a person to go to their favorite search engine and enter the deceased name in order to find your obituary listing without having to first know where the service is being provided
2) selection of service type. i.e. funeral, memorial or cremation
3) selectable background colors for the outside border areas of your obituaries — over 16,000,000 colors to choose from in an easy to use color picker widget
4) improved layout of the Obituaries page on your website
5) many style changes to make your obituaries stand out more in the viewer’s eyes.
